Whew! Social media platforms continue to be on fire after sexual assault allegations surfaced against Jay-Z. Texas lawyer Tony Buzbee recently filed a lawsuit on behalf of Jane Doe, who claims that Jay and Sean “Diddy” Combs raped her more than 20 years ago. According to TMZ, the court docs claim Jane Doe was 13 at the time of the alleged assault.
On Sunday (December 8), Jay-Z released a statement about the lawsuit, and Buzbee wasted no time clapping back. Meanwhile, Diddy’s lawyer also addressed Jane Doe’s allegations. Elsewhere online, fans and celebrities like Meek Mill have been letting their Twitter fingers fly!
Keep scrolling to see ALL OF THAT ^ broken down into five things to know about the shocking allegations and those involved.
1. Lawsuit Says Sexual Assault Happened In 2000
As mentioned, the woman at the center of the lawsuit is suing anonymously. According to NBC News, she first filed the lawsuit in the Southern District of New York in October and only named Diddy. That changed on Sunday with a refile that now includes Jay-Z. She is seeking unspecified damages.
Jane Doe’s lawsuit explains that the assault happened after a friend dropped her off at Radio City Music Hall for the MTV Video Music Awards. She did not have a ticket for the show but tried to find her way inside the venue or to an afterparty by approaching different limousines. Ultimately, a driver of one invited her to an afterparty allegedly said Jane Doe “fit what Diddy was looking for” and instructed her to return for pick-up later in the night.
After a 20-minute ride, the lawsuit claims Jane Doe arrived at the house. Before entering, she reportedly signed a document, which she now believes was an NDA, and did not get a copy. Upon entering, the then 13-year-old saw guests, including celebrities, using cocaine and marijuana. At one point, she took an offered drink that allegedly made her feel “woozy, lightheaded” and went into a room to lie down.
While in there, the woman claims Diddy entered the room with Jay-Z and said, “You are ready to party.” The lawsuit claims Jay removed her clothes, held her down, and raped her while Combs and a female celebrity watched. Afterward, Combs did the same while Jay and the woman observed. She allegedly stopped Diddy from forcing her to perform oral sexual assault by hitting him in the neck. After the incident, Jane Doe says she grabbed her clothes, left the party, and found her way to a gas station to call her dad.
2. Jay-Z Pops OFF On Woman’s Lawyer Tony Buzbee
Within hours of the lawsuit reaching the internet, Jay-Z cleared the air via a lengthy statement. The New York City icon questioned Tony’s credibility, declared his innocence,e and expressed hurt for his wife, Beyoncé, and their three kids. Jay began his statement by alleging that his lawyer received a “blackmail attempt” in the form of a demand letter.
“What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle. No, sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!! These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”

Additionally, Jay-Z accused Tony Buzbee of having a “pattern of these types of theatrics” and labeled him a “deplorable human being.” He said, “I’m more than prepared to deal with your type,” suggesting that Buzbee shouldn’t say he’s a Marine because he has neither “honor nor dignity.”
“My only heartbreak is for my family,” Carter said. “My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims and explain the cruelty and greed of people. I mourn yet another loss of innocence.”
Carter said that kids shouldn’t have to have these experiences at such a young age and pointed out the unfairness of having to understand. He added that his “heart goes out to true victims in the world who have to watch how their life story is dressed in costume for profitability by this ambulance chaser in a cheap suit.”

Speaking to Buzbee, Jay-Z said, “You have made a terrible error in judgment thinking that all celebrities are the same. I’m not from your world. I’m a young man who made it out of the project of Brooklyn. We don’t play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honor. We protect children, you seem to exploit people for personal gain.”
Jay added that if the allegations weren’t serious and kid-related, the lawsuit would be “laughable.” “I look forward to showing you just how different I am,” Jay-Z wrote in closing.

3. Carter Files Docs Requesting Jane Doe Reveal Herself
In a new update on Monday, Jay-Z wants Jane Doe to reveal herself. TMZ picked up the court documents, and Carter reportedly pulled the “fair is fair” card. His lawyer, Alex Spiro, filed court docs with the POV that it’s “not consistent with justice or fairness or the rules governing federal proceedings for the Plaintiff and her counsel to smear [Jay-Z]’s good name.”
The filing also stands ten toes down on Jay-Z’s innocence. It says he’s built an “impeccable reputation” and that he doesn’t have any history of being accused of sexual misconduct.

If Jane Doe refuses to reveal her identity, Jay-Z is seeking for the civil lawsuit to be dismissed. His lawyer said Doe has not provided any specific evidence about why she needs to remain anonymous. Attorney Alex Spiro said the woman’s “vague assertions of potential harm fall far short of the stringent requirements” under the law.”
“Mr. Carter deserves to know the identity of the person who is effectively accusing him — in sensationalized, publicity-hunting fashion — of criminal conduct, demanding massive financial compensation, and tarnishing a reputation earned over decades,” Alex Spiro wrote. “He has never been accused of, let alone engaged in, any sexual misconduct.”

4. Tony Buzbee Responds To Jay-Z's Statement
After Jay-Z’s professional READ, Tony Buzbee didn’t cower to the corner. Instead, he went ham in two social media posts. In the first, he accused Jay of trying to silence him and his clients and previously sued him under a pseudonym. Additionally, he shared that his client, Jane Doe, didn’t request a penny from Jay in her demand letter. Instead, she was initially seeking a confidential mediation session.
“Since I sent the letter on her behalf, Mr. Carter has not only sued me, but he has tried to bully and harass me and this plaintiff. His conduct has had the opposite impact. She is emboldened. I’m very proud of her resolve. As far as the allegations in the complaint filed, we will let the filing speak for itself and will litigate the facts in court, not in the media.”

In a second social media post, Tony Buzbee addressed Jay-Z’s comments about his Marines experience. He shared a throwback photo of himself and, in a lengthy caption, described his service and accused Jay of stalking him, his family, and his former clients to intimidate or embolden them to sue Buzbee.
“I’m still THAT guy. I won’t be bullied or intimidated. People will see through this effort to discredit me and my clients and the truth will be revealed. I also won’t allow anyone to scare my clients into silence. Sunlight is the best disinfectant and I am quite certain the sun is coming.”

5. Diddy's Lawyer Reacts To The Lawsuit
While Jay-Z addressed Buzbee and the lawsuit head-on, Diddy has resorted to speaking through his lawyer. The producer’s team called the amended and initial lawsuits “extortion.” Like Jay, Diddy’s team also challenged Buzbee’s credibility, calling the lawsuits “shameless publicity stunts” to collect coins from shaken celebrities! However, the statement did not name Jay-Z.
“As his legal team, Mr. Combs has full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process. In court, the truth will prevail that Mr. Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone — man, or woman, adult or minor,” the statement said.
For context, NBC reports that Tony Buzbee has filed several lawsuits alleging sexual assault by unnamed plaintiffs in the last couple of months. However, Jane Doe’s is the first in which he named another high-profile celebrity.

6. Meek Mill Weighs In
Meek Mill is among the first celebrities to react to the bombshell news. Taking to his preferred platform, the former Twitter, he shared that the goal is to start a false narrative to create a “matrix web.”
“If you can control the storyline you can control the matrix. American media is totally unbelievable! I see “Jay-Z” ___ a 13 year old girl 300 times scrolling, it’s called programming.”
So far, it’s been a lil’ quiet on the celebrity block regarding this one, but as mentioned social media is popping off. Trending topic, for sure!

Beyoncé has not spoken out about the allegations against her husband, and it’s unclear what Jay-Z’s next move will be!
As for Diddy, he’s been locked up in a Brooklyn jail since September, when law enforcement arrested him for sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
Most recently, the court denied his third request for bail. That decision came after prosecutors claimed he’s been using his family members to try to taint the future jury pool. Combs will likely remain in police custody until his trial begins in May 2025.
