Sekai, a celebrity hotspot in Houston, Texas, has come under fire by several employees. The workers are claiming that they haven’t been paid by the club in months.
Some allege that the club owner is only paying certain employees. Meanwhile, others claim they are waiting on paychecks worth thousands of dollars.
Is it all just a misunderstanding? Or is something deeper at play?
Now, The Shade Room’s Justin Carter is getting to the bottom of things on ‘TSR Investigates.’
More Details About The Allegations Against Sekai, The Houston Celebrity Hotspot
According to Carter, everyone from Kevin Hart to Yung Miami and Sexyy Red has popped out at Sekai. Furthermore, the club reportedly features an indoor swimming pool, bartenders in bikinis, and high spenders. Despite the glitz, in August 2024, several employees alleged they stopped receiving payments and cash tips for their services.
Per employees, the club adopted new owners in the late summer of 2023.
“Things just started happening,” Amber Johnson, a bartender at Sekai, recalled to Carter. “…We get told every week that payday’s coming next week… or they just cold, just ignore you.”
Additionally, Johnson even informed Carter that “some [employees] have been paid in full while others have not.”
The Owner Speaks Out
According to Johnson, she believes the new owner of Sekai is exhibiting favoritism, or a quid pro quo attitude, toward certain employees. Additionally, former employee Jakaya Jones told Carter that the club’s accounting system was less than up to par.
