Power 105.1’s ‘The Breakfast Club’ has officially announced its new co-host. As The Shade Room previously reported, the radio show has been seeking a third co-host since Angela Yee’s departure in 2022.
However, the process apparently hasn’t been without confusion.

‘The Breakfast Club’ Shares The Announcement
On Monday, January 29, the radio show took to its official social media accounts to share a video with subscribers. On YouTube, the two-minute clip begins with audio cuts from other broadcasters.
The audio featured broadcasters criticizing the show for “clout-chasing” and proclaiming its reign on the airwaves was over. Additionally, some audio clips included direct shots at guest host, Jess Hilarious.
As the audio played, footage in the clip panned closer to a white chair adorned in gold. About halfway into the clip, a person’s image began to appear, with hosts DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God popping up alongside them.
Check out the announcement below.
Additionally, the show also took to its Instagram page to share an official graphic of the comedian alongside DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God. The graphic features a quote from Jess Hilarious about the impact she wants her upcoming role to have.
“I’m confident that taking the third seat at The Breakfast Club will show people that Jess Hilarious is not just comedy, but culture,” she said, per the graphic’s caption.
Jess Hilarious will make her official debut on ‘The Breakfast Club’ on Monday, February 5.

However, weeks later, Charlamagne and DJ Envy left folks scratching their heads when they seemed to behave confused about the show’s co-host selection process, per The Shade Room. Additionally, the hosts didn’t acknowledge Jess Hilarious’ previous announcement.
“You know what I’m so confused by? We spent all last year rotating guest co-hosts, and I thought we were rotating guest co-hosts before we let God decide who’s supposed to be in here,” Charlamagne said in an episode uploaded to YouTube on January 10. “Now, it’s 2024 — do we just say, ‘F-it, there’s not going to be another co-host?'”
A few days later, Charlamagne prompted more confusion when he seemed to dodge questions regarding Jess Hilarious. Furthermore, the radio host seemed to imply that no decision regarding their third mic had been made.

“…I just came from downstairs, it was just me and Envy doing the show, again,” he said during an interview with TMZ. “Everybody knows we were rotating guest hosts, you know, last year. And we said we was gon’ start of 2024 with a new host and that hasn’t happened yet.”
Then, things between Jess Hilarious and ‘The Breakfast Club’ hosts appeared to escalate when the comedian called them out for comparing Mary J. Blige and SZA.

“These n****s are trash. Envy, shut up! I know artists be pissed when old heads do this bc now everybody negatively comparing SZA to MJB and it ain’t even her fault! She has her own identity already,” Jess Hilarious wrote via her Instagram Story.
Apparently, Jess Hilarious’ comments may have been all in good fun or for the sake of stirring up social media. However, at this time, both the comedian and ‘The Breakfast Club’ hosts have yet to open up on the matter.
