Storm Reid has shared a major update regarding her role in season three of ‘Euphoria.’
On Wednesday, November 20, Rotten Tomatoes took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a clip of their exclusive conversation with Reid on the red carpet of the Governor Awards. During the conversation, Reid explained that she’s “very excited” about the show’s upcoming season. However, it will be returning with a change.
“Unfortunately, Gia’s not returning to the third season, but I am so so indebted to the cast and the crew of that show — to HBO,” she said. “Euphoria’s a really special thing, and I’m so glad that that’s a part of my legacy and that I was a part of such a cultural phenomenon… I’m forever grateful, forever indebted, and I can’t wait to see what Season 3 has in store.”
Social media users immediately shared reactions to Reid’s update on the show on X. Some users questioned the direction of the show since Reid, who plays the sister of the main character Rue, would be removed from the upcoming storyline.
Meanwhile, others urged HBO to cancel the show entirely.
As The Shade Room previously reported, in March, it was revealed that filming for season three of ‘Euphoria’ had been put on hold. Additionally, it was reported that amid the show’s halt, its cast had been granted permission to pursue other acting projects. Lastly, Deadline shared the projections for the show’s return were slated for 2025.
Per Variety, production on season three of the show is now reported to begin in January 2025. Furthermore, HBO executive Casey Bloys reportedly told outlets on November 12 that all of the show’s actors would be returning to set.
According to the outlet, HBO has declined to comment on Storm Reid’s revelation and the apparent change in plans.
