Rich Homie Quan’s passing has left fans heartbroken. TMZ confirmed his death on September 5, according to The Shade Room. Furthermore, his cause of death remains unconfirmed.
The news of Dequantes Devontay Lamar’s passing was met with an outpour of love from several celebrity friends like Boosie, Quavo, Jacquees, GloRilla, Lil Duval, and Playboi Carti.

Quan took over the mid-2010s with his music, which is still a go-to for special occasions and events to this day! Though he began his career in 2011, his 2013 hit ‘Type of Way’ truly launched him into the spotlight. The track brought RHQ mainstream success, reaching number 50 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2014, the emcee took over the music scene with ‘Lifestyle,’ a track by Rich Gang that also featured him and Young Thug. The record gained popularity when it dropped and recently trended online after being played in court during Thugger’s YSL Rico trial.
In 2015, Rich Homie Quan climbed even higher with his hit single ‘Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh).’
RHQ grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. Before launching his rap career, he spent four years playing baseball at Ronald McNair Sr. High School in Atlanta.
According to the Sacramento Bee, Lamar played varsity baseball as a freshman, excelling as a center fielder and leadoff hitter. He even earned a scholarship to attend Fort Valley State University, an HBCU.
