A$AP Rocky and Rihanna seem to have found love “in a hopeless place,” IYKYK! In a new interview with W magazine, Rocky reflected on their early moments and how he knew they were meant to be.
In the cover story, Rocky dives into the history he shares with Rihanna, who took the photos for the shoot. A$AP explained that he first crossed paths with Riri at a nightclub when his career was just starting.
“I was kicked out of this nightclub. They wasn’t giving me no access to it. This is when I’m just starting out, so nobody knows me. I was with Matthew Williams and Virgil Abloh. I was getting into it with the bouncers, and she came out. We just locked eyes. She didn’t even know us, but she was like, ‘Yo! Why y’all not letting him in? What’s wrong with you?! Let that man in!’, Rocky explained.
The Harlem rapper pointed out that the Mercer Hotel in New York City, where the interview was taking place, is where he believes they fell in love. E News states that Rocky thinks the ‘Work’ singer fell for him over a decade ago while filming his music video, ‘Fashion Killa,’ in the same location.
“This is very special because this is the first place she fell in love with me. Virgil Abloh shot the music video for ‘Fashion Killa’ in 2012, and that was the same couch where Rihanna and I sat in the first scene,” A$AP said.
Additionally, PEOPLE notes that the ‘DMB’ rapper believed RiRi was the one long before they worked together.
“I knew from when we were younger,” the Harlem-bred rapper admitted. “We both did, I think. So it was only right when we got older. We just kind of reconnected.”
As TSR previously reported, A$AP Rocky opened up about his relationship with Rihanna in an August interview with Billboard. He praised the ‘Love On The Brain’ singer as a “great mother” to their two sons, RZA and Riot Rose. He also discussed how they juggle their relationship with their busy work lives.
“The relationship is going great. I don’t think there’s a more perfect person because when the schedules are hectic, she’s very understanding of that. And when the schedule’s freed up, that’s when you get to spend the most time together. It’s all understanding and compatibility,” A$AP said.
