Prince Harry has addressed the recent divorce speculation surrounding him and Meghan Markle.
According to Page Six, Harry appeared at The New York Times’ 2024 DealBook Summit on Wednesday, December 4. During his time on stage, Harry was asked about the “fascination” that surrounds him and his wife each appearing solo for recent events.
“‘Why are you doing independent events? Why aren’t you doing them together?'” the host asked him, seemingly referencing the online chatter.
In reaction, Harry initially shared a humorous response.
“Because you invited me, you should have known… You should have known that was going to happen,” he said.
At that point, the host then asked Harry if it now feels “normal” to have consistent speculation over his marriage. Additionally, the host asked if the public’s interest “feels like a good thing.”
“It’s definitely not a good thing. Because apparently we’ve bought or moved house[s] maybe 10 or 12 times. And we’ve apparently divorced maybe 10 or 12 times as well. So, it’s just like, ‘What?’ So, yeah, it’s hard to keep up with but that’s why you just sort of ignore it,” Harry responded.
Ultimately, Harry shared that the people he feels “most sorry for are the trolls.”
“The people I feel most sorry about are the trolls who, their hopes are just built and built and built so its like ‘Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,’ and then it doesn’t happen. So I feel sorry for them, genuinely I do, I mean that,” he said.

According to the outlet, Harry’s comments on the divorce speculation surrounding him and Markle arrive after the pair have been spotted solo at various events in recent weeks. Then, a week later, it was reportedly announced that Prince Harry would host a charity event on December 10 without his wife.
On November 14, Markle was also spotted solo while reportedly attending the launch of a friend’s haircare line. Then, on Wednesday, December 4, Markle was also spotted alongside Tyler Perry at the 2024 Paley Honors Fall Gala, per Page Six.
According to US Weekly, Prince Harry also opened up about living in the United States with Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
“I enjoy living [in the U.S.] and bringing my kids up here, it’s a part of my life that I never thought I was going to live and it feels as though it’s the life that my mom wanted for me,” he explained.
