Flavor Flav Responds After Calling Out Media Network

Flavor Flav initially hopped on X (formerly Twitter) to air out his frustrations after security at NBC told him to leave the Christmas Tree Lighting. He called out the network, saying the situation confused him. However, on Thursday, Dec. 5, Flav came back to X, saying he felt embarrassed and thought NBC handled everything all wrong. Furthermore, he thanked his fans and social media for showering him with love after the incident.

“I posted and quickly deleted something last night, I was embarrassed by some language and actions by security guards throwing their weight around. The situation was poorly handled and I didn’t realize how many people would care. I thank all y’all for the love, and this the season to spread love and joy. My post created headlines that takes away from the incredible performances and everyone’s hard work, Jennifer Hudson CRUSHED it, that’s my girl, and man Kelly Clarkson is one of the GREATEST all time, I stayed and watched the Backstreet Boys from side stage just as it started to snow, and I gotta say that Howie D is one of the NICEST guys in the music industry,,, real good people ya know, and if ya don’t catch us on the front street, catch us on the Backstreet!!”

Here’s What Flav Previously Said About His Incident With NBC

Flavor Flav shared that his holiday spirit took a hit after he experienced an awkward run-in backstage at the Christmas Tree Lighting in a now-deleted post on X. The reality stated he was visiting the Backstreet Boys when security told him to leave. Additionally, he shared that the incident occurred as NBC’s social media team asked him to do content. Flav mentioned that the situation left him feeling heartbroken because he always tries to spread good vibes wherever he goes.

“I feel weird… I was invited to the Rockefeller Tree Lighting tonite and I was escorted to see my boys,,,THE BACKSTREET BOYS,,, and we were backstage in their dressing room,,, security came up to me and says @nbc does not want me in the area and I need to leave. At the same time,,,their social media woman came up and asked to capture social content. What did I ever do to NBC or anyone,,?? all I ever do is try to spread joy and love,,,and I think I did that for NBC at the Olympics,” Flav wrote on X.

Furthermore, Flav posted on X that the situation “broke his spirit.” His comments led fans to ask if the Backstreet Boys had his back. One user commented, “I’m sorry that happened to you. @nbc was wrong for that, and your Boys (Backstreet Boys) should have spoken up for you.” Flav responded to the X user, confirming that the Backstreet Boys did support him.

Despite the drama, Flav still enjoyed the Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting. He shared a video on X of the tree lighting up with sparkling, multi-colored lights and wrote, Christmas in the city,,, ain’t nothing like the Rockefeller tree lighting  @rockcenternyc.”

Flavor Flav’s disappointment with NBC comes after his appearances on the network earlier this year. In July, he became the “official hype man” for the USA Water Polo teams at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which aired on NBC. CNBC reported that Flav signed a five-year deal to appear at USA Water Polo events, boost the team’s social media presence, and help expand the sport’s reach. Flav also rocked a water polo cap and Team USA-branded waterproof clock necklace at poolside during matches.
