Meek Mill has seemingly taken a stance regarding Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ current circumstances.
Less than a week ago, the Philly rapper went viral after using the infamous ‘No Diddy’ phrase. After Combs’ arrest, social media users coined the phrase instead of saying “nothing freaky” and similar phrases. Justin Combs seemed to respond to the clip of Mill by writing “SMH” and using a face-palm emoticon on IG.
However, on Wednesday (Nov. 20), Meek Mill seemingly clarified where he stands when it comes to Diddy’s situation. On X, formerly Twitter, he wrote:
“They putting Black men in jail off stories…I wish Puff well he’s a Black man I hope he didn’t do most of that sh*t they saying he did….Why y’all so scared to talk y’all must got sh*t in the closet! My past is the streets, it’s nothing to hide!”
In several posts before and after his Diddy name-drop, Meek Mill popped off about the media’s alleged representation of Black men, himself included. He called out specific outlets that cover content targeting Black audiences. However, Meek really went IN regarding a circulating report that claims there’s a video of him at a Diddy-sponsored party. He accused publications of fueling a “war on Black men.”
Social media users have been speculating for the better part of the year about a more-than-entertainer relationship between Meek and Diddy. As expected, Mill has popped off a couple of times about the chatter. In addition to denying any such relationship, he has also previously blamed the media for associating him with Diddy’s court cases.
Their friendship became a focal point for social media users after Lil Rod seemingly named him in his lawsuit against Diddy. While Rod didn’t name-drop Mill, he described the person as a “Philadelphia rapper.”
What’s Tea With Combs’ Case?
Just catching up? Here’s what’s tea. The producer is still behind bars at the Brooklyn Metro Detention Center after multiple rejected bail requests. Diddy has been detained on racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution charges since September. Last week, prosecutors alleged in a court filing that Combs is using his family to try to improve his rep and influence the jury pool.
Most recently, Sean Combs appeared in front of a judge. On Tuesday (Nov. 19), attorneys for the producer challenged prosecutors about 19 handwritten notes in their possession. Apparently, the notes were seized during a jail cell search. The defense claims that the notes contained privileged attorney-client information and that Diddy’s right to a fair trial is at risk.
Meanwhile, prosecutors alleged that the notes show the pattern of obstruction they’re trying to prove. Ultimately, the judge ruled that prosecutors must get rid of their copies of the notes. Additionally, the court will hold on to the original notes while both sides submit briefs about the incident, per NBC News.
Aside from his federal case, Diddy’s legal team is still fighting sexual assault lawsuits — a string of accusations that began with ex-girlfriend Cassie suing him for battery, abuse, and trafficking.
Note that reps for Diddy and his adult children have not reacted to Meek Mill’s message.
