Diddy‘s lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, has spoken out after reports alleged the 54-year-old has been placed on suicide watch while in federal custody.

Diddy’s Lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, Reacts To Suicide Watch Reports & Shares An Update On Him
According to a report published by TMZ on Friday, September 20, Agnifilo confirmed to the outlet that Diddy has been placed on suicide watch. As The Shade Room previously reported, he is currently being housed at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, as he awaits trial.
Additionally, Agnifilo explained that the suicide watch directive was “issued by MDC officials.” According to the lawyer, it is simply a regular procedure for “new, high-profile inmates.”
Aginifilo reportedly added that he spent six hours at MDC with Diddy on Thursday, September 19. According to him, Diddy is “not at all suicidal.” Instead, the 54-year-old is “strong, healthy, confident and focused on his defense.”
Here’s What’s Been Reported About Metropolitan Detention Center
On Thursday, September 19, PEOPLE released an exclusive report, citing sources had informed the outlet of Diddy’s updated status. Additionally, the outlet reported that the 54-year-old is “in shock, and his mental state is unclear.”
Per The Shade Room, the Metropolitan Detention Center was reportedly the location of a murder in June. At the time, a 37-year-old detainee named Uriel Whyte was reportedly stabbed to death.
Furthermore, in an interview with Spectrum News NY1, another detainee named Eli reportedly noted the alleged conditions of the center.
“One guy was stabbed in the eye with a makeshift knife,” he told the outlet. “And these knives… are six, nine inches long sometimes, you know, homemade with materials from the steel walls. It’s very violent. There’s stabbings, there’s stabbings at least a couple times a week.”
Another detainee reportedly informed the outlet that phones, drugs, razors, scalpels, and other dangerous items are allegedly brought in through correction officers. Furthermore, the detainee alleged that some officers are allegedly gang members.
Here’s What’s Happened Since Diddy’s Been Taken Into Federal Custody
As The Shade Room previously reported, Diddy’s federal charges were revealed as racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution on Tuesday, September 17.
That same day, the 54-year-old appeared in court and pled not guilty to the charges. Additionally, Agnifilio reportedly presented a $50 million request for bail, which was denied by the judge.

On Wednesday, September 18, Diddy and his lawyer returned to court before a separate judge to appeal the decision. In an updated bail request, the pair reportedly alleged Diddy would be monitored by a private security company if released to his home in Miami. Additionally, female guests would be prohibited, excluding his family members.
Despite the update, the judge ultimately denied the 54-year-old’s request, per The Shade Room.
According to TMZ, Agnifilio has requested the court to transfer Diddy from MDC to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, New Jersey. The outlet reports that the decision is under review. Meanwhile, a conference hearing for the 54-year-old’s case has reportedly been set for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24, per PEOPLE.
